Sicilian Organic Almond Pastes
Sicilian organic almond pastries are typical Sicilian sweets made using only the highest quality organic products and handcrafted in the traditional way.
The origin of Almond Paste is very old and uncertain. It is often traced back to the Arabs who introduced rich and spicy dishes to Sicily. They were the first tomix sugar, spices and ground dried fruit and spreadthis recipe to Sicily as well.
However, the most credited story is one dating back to the 11th century that describes the monks and nuns in the Martorana Convent in Palermo devoting themselves to prepare sweets made with water, sugar and almonds.
These delicious Sicilian sweets are also called dry pastries . They have a soft heart and a delicate crunchy crust and are traditionally decorated with half candied cherry or a whole almond.
The almonds used are the renowned Sicilian almonds, which are sweet and rich in important nutritional properties.
